The Red Cross will have 12 service posts and a wide deployment for the Festival of Lights 2025
The Red Cross prepares a major operation for the Festival of Lights 2025 in San José. Learn about our deployment and recommendations for the event.
December 11, 2025. The Costa Rican Red Cross will be present at the Festival of Lights and in the prior activities, reinforcing pre-hospital care for the thousands of people who will participate in this traditional event. More than 100 Red Cross members will be available throughout the day to respond promptly to any emergency.
The institution will have 12 service posts distributed along the route and within La Sabana Metropolitan Park. At these points, there will be trained personnel, including: First Aid Assistants, Emergency Medical Technicians, nurses, and specialized staff personnel. Likewise, more than 20 emergency vehicles will be deployed, including advanced and basic life support ambulances, rescue units, and operational vehicles.
In addition, the institutional alert system will remain activated to reinforce the response in case additional resources are required. The Costa Rican Red Cross also ensures that emergency services in the rest of the country will not be neglected, keeping all its bases operating as usual.
For people attending the parade, the following is recommended:
Use comfortable shoes, preferably sneakers.
Carry a written note of your medical conditions, medications, and emergency contacts.
In case of any discomfort, go to the nearest service post or call 9-1-1.
Avoid food whose handling or hygiene raises concerns.
Carry basic items such as band-aids, bandages, water, hydrating drinks, and candies.
Check the weather forecast and bring sunscreen, a cap, or an umbrella as needed.
Always keep your belongings in sight.
